Starr Family Historic Home
Starr Family Home State Historic Site, operated by the Texas Historical Commission, interprets the 150-year history of the Starr family in Texas. Maplecroft, the centerpiece of the estate, was built in 1870. The home is filled with original furnishings, family portraits and clothing, and a collection of china and glassware. The stately house and lush azalea-laden grounds are available for special events, group tours, holiday candlelight dinner tours, bed and breakfast accommodations and more. The historic house is open for tours Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit us to learn something you never knew about Texas history!
